See that guy above playing the drums? That would be me, Daryel Johnson. I started playing the drums about four years ago. It's sort of funny as it was because my friends were hogging the Rock Band guitar, but they had drums that was not being used so, I asked if I could play the drums. I was told it was to hard, you need to really coordinated.  They put me through a test and told me that I had rub my belly and head at the same time in the opposite directions, 'Sure" I said, showed they I could do that and then proceeded to set the kit up and I proved myself worthy and have been progressing ever since. 

How did I get to here? 

  In January of 2012, I went through a trauma and lost my memory, however the muscle memory for playing the drums remained.  Being one of the only things that I could naturally do, in July 2012 I decided to pursue my aspiration and started taking lessons in March 2013 to progress in what I hope will be to become a professional drummer. This blog, Drummers Quest, is about this journey that I'm taking to become a professional drummer.  

Drumming Progression

  Currently I am studying under the tutorial of Jack I. Hall at his studio in the Hurstbourne Parkway Willis Music Store. I started taking lessons from Jack on March 11, 2013 and those far have take four lessons.   

Goals

  My goal's are pretty simple, take drum lessons, become a drummer in a band and enjoy my love of making music with drums! I also hope this blog finds it way to other inspiring drummers so they can see what what it takes to get where I hope to be one day and possibly assist them in advancing their choose skill!

Prior to Drumming

  Previous to this, I was a software engineer for 12+ years; working on everything from full scale software systems by conducting analysis and design, to producing web graphics and layouts to programming.
